This is my staple hotel breakfast.
Think I'm faking it? I don't blame you. I mean who in this worldly-world of ours would choose a bowl of fruits topped with yoghurt in a buffet breakfast, right? There's at least a thousand other dishes to choose from, a million cereals in all shapes and sizes, cheeses from all parts of Europe, Alaskan King Crab...okay I'm exaggerating, hee hee.
Well if you have the same choices for 14 days of buffet breakfasts you'd eat this too, trust me. Day in and day out. You'd eat this. I grew sick and tired of my favorite all-time breakfast bacon and eggs for the first two days. I gagged at the sight of Boursin on my third day (yabang! eh last time while grocery shopping the mister and I squealed with glee when we saw Boursin cheese sa Shopwise but when we discovered the price we threw it back sa shelf :-P ). I literally lost my appetite for a hearty breakfast on the fourth day. On the fifth day, I learned to eat fruits topped with yoghurt. And from then on, it became my staple hotel breakfast (pag long-time hotel stay lang, shempre next time we eat hotel breakfast I'll wolf down on bacon and eggs for as long as I can take it hehe).
Heniways, I was able to get fresh yoghurt and decided to remake the staple hotel breakfast kuno. Nothing beats fresh yoghurt on top of fresh fruits. If you can't find fresh yoghurt from your suking dairy supplier (there are lots of fresh dairy suppliers in SM Hypermart on weekends by the way), the grocery kind will suffice. Just cut your favorite fruits, put them in a bowl, and top with yoghurt. You're good to go!
NB: Perfect if you're in a hurry to leave but cannot not have breakfast.

that looks yummy mai, i'm dreaming of your pritong bangus on the background! *drool*
we were in hotels and resorts last year with the dutch family for more than a month. by the time kj and i returned to gensan, i ate steamed talong with bagoong for ulam on my dinner for 4 days straight. to kj's consternation about the smell and taste of bagoong. but i didn't care. i've had enough pa-sosyal food. hehe. :)
hotel food is good once in a while, but not for a long time! hahaha! i agree, sobra pasosyal talaga hotel food :-)
Hi Mai! This post reminds me of a recipe my mom has for marinating chicken pieces in yogurt flavored with turmeric, salt and pepper. Let marinate for over 24 hours and bake. Yum! Now you can have your chicken with yogurt, too! Hee.
oh yeah! my mom's version is to marinate it in cream. i still have some chicken at home and one small cup of yoghurt! guess what we're having for dinner tonight? haha :-)
